Back Catalogue explained: Schrumpfschlauch & Media Docks

Hello… And again we release two tracks from our Back Catalogue for your listening pleasure. This time it is “Schrumpfschlauch” (rewired, 2009) which already deserves a star for its name and “Media Docks” (Sloan & P. Schrader (R.I.P.), 2001).

Sloan about Schrumpfschlauch: Hypnotizing! I have the urge to move my feet, to gyrate my hip and to clap my hands. This track is not just a poor copy of electronic dance music, oh noooo! It comes with brass smuggled under the beat and the electronic appliances! And have I told you about this beat which is so accurate that it can be used as a measuring tool? Measuring what exactly you may ask… Well, how about the beats per minute this track is in. Funny occurrence, this track reminds me of Yello sans the dulcet crotchety vocals. Great tune to tune in for shaking some arse!

rewired about Schrumpfschlauch: IMHO: This one simply grooves. It was bounced to my HD some time after we had polished “I Want To Shout Out (Shouda Louda Mix)” for release on ccMixter.org. Somehow (more accidently) I programmed some grooving drum tracks. This one here is one of them. I also experimented with some maverick bass treatments in which I really chased various instruments thru different FX-channels. This one here is also one of them. Furthermore there was some kind of giving strange automatizations a burl. This one here — yes, you guessed right!

rewired about Media Docks: Somewhere between Vangelis and Jarre this relaxing and soothing tune glints like an yet almost unheared gem of finest melodic electronica. This piece of artwork is dope! Full stop. Very awesome instrumentation with this little grain of dirt in patches highlights the gaps between clean and boring relaxation CD’s (you can buy for an euro or two at the supermarket) and superb electronica strongly. I have to point out with sincerity that I love this one.

Sloan about Media Docks: This was a special project. P. Schrader (R.I.P.) got the mission to organize the musical backdrop of a presentation video for the fully renovated “Media Docks” facilities in Lübeck. This video was then shown at the dedication ceremony, with loads of politicians of Schleswig-Holstein present. We composed this track in several iterations and had some requirements to fulfill, like bridging the old with the future and radiating some sort of “Aufbruchsstimmung” sound-wise. The video itself showed statements of important and influential people about education and stuff, then morphed into a rendered flight through the modernized building at the dockside, accompanied by the musical change. The pity is that my final video copy got lost somehow on my side. I would love to see it all again. We had a really good challenge to sync the music with the video scenes in good old Cubase VST 5 that time.

Again 7OOP3D adds two tracks to the Back Catalogue the day after #MusicMonday.

Fake Feedback (Sloan, 1999)

Sloan about Fake Feedback: Another one from the dusty bin with hand-arpeggiated bells on steroids. After all these years this track still has its atmosphere and floats perfectly from start to end. There are only these two embarrassing moves I wish I had done differently: One is this quite repetitive lead melody sounding a bit dull and the other one is this female voice sample that is somewhat off-topic. But after all that is how I wanted it to be at that time, so no real regrets for today.

rewired about Fake Feedback: Sloan strikes again with a genuine electro tune. This one is done 11 years ago! Smoothed and rounded like stones you can find on sandy beaches. But despite of that it has this specific nature of raw and cold digital cleanliness which I adore. A really original track.

Lebenszeichen – Vintage Mix (rewired, 2008)

Sloan about Lebenszeichen (Vintage Mix): This is a beautiful track. I really dig the these organ lines with this shuffled groove. Then comes this high-pitched and bended sound mixed in-between with the chord sequences opening up nicely. Great natural feel and yet still electronics at work pulling the strings in the background - with some strings loafing in the foreground. Now that is covert operation at its best. Top rating from me!

rewired about Lebenszeichen (Vintage Mix): Ha! The brother-in-law of Jakuzzi Bubbles. Almost the same story. Some kind of inspirational breakdown waked this song into the deep wilderness of my harddrive. After a month or two it loomed at the surface and got it’s finishing touches.

Back Catalogue explained: Jakuzzi Bubbles & Full Eye Contact

Good evening dear followers. We have opened our vaults again! Probably the highlight of this rainy day (at least here in Hamburg). We present you tracks for concrete refreshment (Jakuzzi Bubbles, rewired, 2008) and with dustiness of an antiquated item of furniture with the drawer left open for over 11 years (Full Eye Contact, Sloan, 1999).

rewired about Jakuzzi Bubbles: “Jakuzzi Bubbles” was done in quick hurry and some kind of mental disorientation while accidently dropping some funk licks into Sequel. Just for a small check. I liked the punchy drumloops which I started with. But the out-of-the-box instrumentation was quite a humorous mark. So I loaded the ruff sketch into Cubase to tweak and trim the sound forensically.

Sloan about Jakuzzi Bubbles: What the hell was wrong with rewired? Did he had a clown for breakfast? Again, my fellow producer chap has a tendency for big surprises and offers an intensively short track but loaded with Funk-ridden cascades of ill groping keyboard artistic over the hot wire. I am still wondering how he was able to pull of this stunt. I bet there was heavy hand surgery involved. The question is: Was it before he started producing this track or afterwards!?

rewired about Full Eye Contact: Be warned: today we got “Full Eye Contact”. Sloan served us an electro cocktail deluxe bulged with a really groovin’ beat, some even cooler break-rolls and a huge amount of highly confidential special ingredients. This broadloom woven sound layers fitting the dense atmosphere. You can almost smell the scent of daybreak in a misty forest. Turn up the fat knob, tap with you toes and bow your neck! For full enjoyment taste a ligneous but smooth drink:
Pour 2 cl Bruichladdich Pedro Ximinez and 5 cl Somersby Cranberry in a glas. Add one slice of lime. Fill up with crushed ice. Voilà: “Full Eye Contact” on the rocks ready for sipping.

Sloan about Full Eye Contact: This track is so old, I can´t remember too much details about its creation anymore. All I know is it started with this speech-sample which plays in this heavy pounding beat section. The rest came together somehow, by meticulously edited sounds and MIDI event junk. Today, I still like the contrast of the different sections and how they blend together.

Well, this hits the button! Our “Shouda Louda” remix of “I Want To Shout Out” (original track by DJ Vadim, feat. Sabirajade) is again the musical backdrop of a video. Curiously it is a fashion video again - and it is much hotter than the other one. Girls, watch and dance, then go buy your next tight designer swim wear before its too late! For men: Just watch and grin.

Back Catalogue explained: Universal Feinripp & Ground Minus

Hi there… It is time again to grow our Back Catalogue. You know, the thing that holds tracks which were previously unheard of - because they just existed on our hard drives, sometimes so lost in deep folder structures that we are glad to have them unearthed again now. Especially when it comes to these two steam hammers which we present today. Prepare yourself for a frenzy of adulation galore commenting on “Universal Feinripp” (rewired, 2007) and “Ground Minus” (Sloan, 2002).

rewired about Universal Feinripp: Einfach neilaufe’ lasse… qed.

Sloan about Universal Feinripp: Aural fine rib it is, snuggles around the ears, warms the acoustic meatus, lets you feel comfy by getting a grasp about the universal message conveyed in this track: Electronic music can tear down walls and makes us dancing naked in front of the membranes from where it emits. Spiced with this melancholy we forgive you shedding a tear or two. Universal truth is for amateurs, Universal Feinripp is what professionals die for.

rewired about Ground Minus: I simply love this song. For the variety, for the punch. I would bet you’ll feel the same after listening to this outstanding tune. I really wanted to hold back this track till the end. But after I noticed which track Sloan has choosen I guess this week we got crush-the-balls-week - so let it roll.

Sloan about Ground Minus: Produced after some serious physical damage has been done in a far distance, but too near virtually. A dark “atmosfear” meets a club-stylish hook line while driving with enraged drums to end in the beginning. The fun society awakes in their decay. An inside job with false flags attached. And I need my mood elevator pills very urgently, please…

Back Catalogue explained: Mondwoche & March Of The Armodons

This time we unreveal two completely different tunes – a rollercoaster ride of styles.

First one is Mondwoche (produced 2001 by Sloan and Patric S.) in memory to Patric, who died by far too early, may he rest in peace! Mondwoche is an ear caressing electro track with a tight atmosphere. The first time I listened to it I fell in love with this remarkable shivering leadsound, which IMHO perfectly lightens up the song. Lean back and enjoy this cozy tune. Sloan adds: “Cozy it is when its cold as clastic moon rock”.

Second one is March Of The Armodons (produced 2008 by rewired with the appreciated help of Pat). It started as an examination object (working title was “Dampframme in flachen Gewässern”). After some invastigations in multiple wrong directions the object finally brought itself to live and left the laboratory. As of today March Of The Armodons may live in a comfy SoundCloud set called Back Catalogue Vol.1. In case you like to know more about Armodons just consider to click here. Sloans adds: “Didn‘t know about Armodons before, now I realize what is trampling on me when I listen to this truly epic track”.

At first sight this combination may not match – at a second glance you’ll realize that it really doesn’t fit at all. But we don’t care, no matter.

Back Catalogue explained: R0KKA & Streulicht

Hi fans. As promised here are some first hand details about our just recently released Back Catalogue tracks. Assuming you already had a listen to them, you probably have noticed that R0KKA is such a weird track from rewired (2009), that Sloan had a serious fit of laughter when he first listened to it. Not because it is funny but this track is just hilarious! It starts where Justice left off and takes a turn onto a level, where it stands for a satire of all the ingredients used to create it. Listen to it when you at least thought about to play it! As for Streulicht (Sloan, 2005) the story is a tad sober. It was a very rough sketch for the title track of a radio play but the project evaporated before it even started. The track displays potential in its combination of imitating an iffy acoustic drum groove with a sequencer, then tops out itself with this piggish organ line to revert the damage done with a hell of a lead synth line. A cliffhanger for no second season to come.

Back Catalogue explained: Inhale & Valediction

We have started to release tracks from our Back Catalogue. “Inhale” is a track produced 2007 by Rewired, featuring deliciously shattering drum grooves with haunting leads, kept together by the electronic framework. “Valediction” was produced 2005 by Sloan. It starts a bit shy and fragile then evolves into something, spiced with sad oddness inbetween.
